Inspired by Kay Gardiner who was inspired by Karen Templer who was inspired by Comme des Garcons inclusion of a granny-square shawl on the runway back in 2013, I came up with this design and made one for Kay (she, in return, knit me a sweater). Kay’s shawl was a heavy, in the best possible way, version out of Madeline Tosh’s Worsted. Although I was concerned that it would be too heavy and too blocky looking, the resulting neck blanket, my affectionate name for it – was surprisingly pleasant to feel around my body and the look was elegant. I’ve now made one using my favorite fingering weight yarn from Bella Hand Dyed Yarns and think it’s just perfect for my newly adopted home of San Francisco.
Here's where and when I'm teaching!
